Dermal Wrinkle Fillers Maple Ridge

You don't have to wear the signs of aging on your face any longer thanks to advanced Anti-Wrinkle treatments and Anti-Aging Wrinkle treatments.

What are Wrinkle Fillers?

As we age our skin will begin to show signs of wear in the form of wrinkles, creases and sagging. While these facial features can be the result of facial expressions such as smiling, it doesn’t make them desirable for many people.
A dermal wrinkle filler is a non-surgical, minimally invasive, medical treatment that is injected into the skin to correct wrinkles, creases, and folds associated with aging. Dermal fillers also add volume and definition by altering contours to regain a more youthful appearance.

Who would be considered a good candidate for Dermal Wrinkle Fillers?

Dermal fillers are intended for both men and women who want to enhance facial features such as lips or cheeks. Wrinkle fillers can also be used to reduce the signs of aging on the face caused by collagen and elastin depletion (fat loss), and sagging skin. It’s a great alternative for those people who prefer not to undergo plastic surgery.

What is the Cost of Dermal Wrinkle Fillers?

The cost of dermal filler injections depends on the amount of dermal filler injected, and will vary depending on the amount of product you require to achieve the results you are satisfied with. During your consultation at Midtown Skin Studio, your unique facial features will be assessed and a treatment plan will be developed including the amount of facial filler required. What are the benefits of hyaluronic acid fillers, compared to permanent fillers?

Because hyaluronic acid fillers are made from a substance that naturally occurs in our bodies, the chance of having an adverse reaction to the product is very low. Permanent fillers are usually man-made products that are not smooth, but rather lumpy, so the results over time with permanent fillers can also be lumpy.
Three primary types of dermal wrinkle fillers are available: Permanent, Semi-Permanent and Temporary Dermal Wrinkle Fillers.
  • Permanent Dermal Wrinkle Fillers: These are made from substances that are not absorbed by the body, which is why they last longer. However, results from permanent fillers often look artificial. Some common permanent dermal fillers include Artecoll /ArteFill, Silicone, and Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), many of which are not available in Canada.
  • Semi-Permanent Dermal Fillers: Semi-Permanent Fillers last longer than Temporary Filers, but not as long as Permanent Fillers.
  • Temporary Dermal Fillers: These usually contain hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the human body. The hyaluronic acid breaks down over time, and is absorbed by the body. This eventual breakdown is what makes them temporary.

What are Common Dermal Wrinkle Filler Injection Areas?

As we age, the amount of fat in our faces gradually diminishes. Although this may sound like a good thing, this fat is usually what makes people look more youthful, because it smooths out facial contours.

The first place we usually experience loss is around the eyes, followed by the middle of the upper cheek below the eye, and the cheekbones. Fat from the areas on the sides of the mouth and nasolabial lines diminish next, followed by the forehead. Last, but not least, are the sides of the face.

If you’re looking to replace lost facial fat and regain your youthful appearance, schedule a complimentary consultation with our experienced dermal filler specialists to learn more about dermal wrinkle fillers.

Forehead Wrinkles: Horizontal creases on the forehead and vertical frown lines can be filled so that the forehead regains a smoother and more youthful appearance.

Under Eyes: Dark and sunken areas under your eyes can make you look tired and older than you actually are. Fillers can help to camouflage dark circles under eyes, which are sometimes created by fat loss.

Cheeks, Jawline and Chin: Pockets of fat evenly distributed in the face create a smooth facial contour. However, age causes those fat pockets to diminish. Dermal fillers can add volume to the cheeks and chin to replace lost volume, eliminating sunken areas. They may also be used to correct Marionette lines, also called melomental folds, which are creases that extend from the corners of your mouth to your chin.

Scars: If you suffer from scars or acne scarring, injectable fillers can help fill in depressions and smooth out the texture of your skin. Surgical scars that are sunken and depressed can also be treated.

Nasolabial Folds: Nasolabial folds are creases that form at the corners of your mouth when you smile. The creases extend upward to the outer edges of your nose and in some cases can be quite prominent. An injectable filler can plump up the fold making it less pronounced without taking away from your natural smile.

Nose: Dermal fillers can address bumps or unevenness on the nose, which is sometimes referred to as a non-surgical nose job. Although it won’t make the nose smaller, it can hide bumps on the bridge of the nose.

Lips: Injectable fillers can help plump up thin lips adding volume which is typically lost due to aging. It can also help to address vertical lines that run upwards toward the nose and achieve a more aesthetically pleasing lip contour.

How are Dermal Wrinkle Filler Injections Performed?

To better understand how the procedure is performed it’s best to schedule a consultation with one of our dermal filler specialists. We’ll discuss your medical history with you, ask about your goals, assess the areas you want to have treated, and will answer any questions or concerns you may have.

We begin the process by applying a numbing gel to the areas to be treated to help minimize discomfort. Next, the filler is injected through a fine needle into the outer layer of your skin. Our specialist will massage the treatment area until the desired effect is achieved. Treatments typically take less than 45 minutes.

The newly injected hyaluronic acid will begin to bind water molecules to increase volume below the skin. You’ll also see some swelling, but the majority of it will be gone within a few days. You’ll be able to return to your daily routine right away.

What is Hyaluronic Acid?

Hyaluronic (pronounced hi-ah-lew-ron-ic) acid — also known as hyaluronan or hyaluronate — is a gooey, slippery substance that your body produces naturally. Scientists have found hyaluronic acid throughout the body, especially in eyes, joints and skin.

Dermal fillers made from hyaluronic acid help to achieve a more youthful appearance by replacing your own hyaluronic acid that has broken down over time. Because this substance is already present in our bodies, it is very rare to have an allergic reaction to a hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler. However, you will still probably experience some swelling, slight bruising, and mild redness. Hyaluronic acid is a remarkable substance because of all the benefits and uses it has in your body. Here are just a few of the benefits of hyaluronic acid:
  • It helps things move smoothly. Hyaluronic acid helps your joints work like a well-oiled machine. It prevents pain and injury from bones grinding against each other.
  • It helps keep things hydrated. Hyaluronic acid is very good at retaining water. A quarter-teaspoon of hyaluronic acid holds about one and a half gallons of water. That’s why hyaluronic acid is often used for treating dry eyes. It’s also used in moisturizing creams, lotions, ointments and serums.
  • It makes your skin flexible. Hyaluronic acid helps skin stretch and flex and reduces skin wrinkles and lines. Hyaluronic acid is also proven to help wounds heal faster and can reduce scarring.

What is the difference between Dermal Fillers and BOTOX®?

As their name suggests, dermal fillers are used to fill in deep wrinkles and depressions, create contours, and enhance facial features. They bring volume and youthful fullness back to your face.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a muscle relaxant that helps smooth out fine lines associated with aging in the upper half of the face. This is accomplished by relaxing the facial muscles, allowing the skin to plump up again on its own.

Injectable fillers and BOTOX® can be used in the same treatment but it will depend on the type of results you want to achieve. Discuss your goals with one of our dermal filler specialists to help you decide on the best treatment program for you.

When will I see results?

You will notice increased volume in the treated area immediately. However, you should see final results in as little as a week.

Is there any downtime after a dermal filler treatment?

Most clients are able to resume their regular activities immediately after the procedure is completed.

What are some injectable wrinkle filler side effects?

Potential side effects may include redness, swelling, mild bruising, tenderness, and itching. You may also experience some mild discomfort around the treated area immediately after the procedure.

To determine whether injectable wrinkle fillers are right for you, we invite you to visit Midtown Skin Studio and discuss your options with our dermal filler specialists.
